Liferea (Linux Feed Reader) is an aggregator for online news feeds. There are many other news readers available, but these others are not available for Linux or require many extra libraries to be installed. Liferea tries to fill this gap by creating a fast, easy to use, easy to install news aggregator for Gtk/Gnome.

Liferea is an abbreviation for Linux Feed Reader. It is a news aggregator for feeds. It supports a number of different feed formats including RSS/RDF, CDF, Atom, OCS, and OPML.

Akregator

Akregator is a KDE application for reading news feeds. It has a powerful user-friendly interface for reading feeds and for the management of them.

Akregator is a lightweight and fast program to display news items provided by feeds, supporting all commonly used versions of RSS and Atom feeds.

Its interface is similar to those of e-mail programs, thus being very intuitive to use. Useful features are searching in article titles, management of feeds in folders and setting archiving preferences.

Feeds can be displayed like mails. Websites related to a feed can be shown in Akregator’s embedded browser or opened in an external browser.

Straw

Straw is a linux feed reader aimed for users using the GNOME desktop. You subscribe to news, blogs, and podcast feeds and read the feeds in the comfort of your desktop, with or without online access.

The goal of Straw is to be an easy-to-use feed reader and one that is integrated with the rest of your desktop. It should support the capabilities provided by the desktop as well as not being hard to users when it comes to usability and in terms of providing functionality.
